Nancy Carretero Hernandez, 18, was born and raised in Fresno, CA and graduates from Edison High School today, June 7, 2010. Nancy’s family is from Mexico and highly values education. Her interests include reading biographies and sewing. Nancy is also involved in theater and drama classes and enjoys expressing herself through performance. For over a year, Nancy has had the opportunity to influence positive change in her community of South West Fresno and other urban Fresno communities through her involvement with Youth Leadership Institute. After high school, Nancy plans on attending Fresno State University as a biology major and then attending medical school.
Recently, Nancy along with the CCROPP youth council began to green one of Fresno's urban food deserts with the completion of a healthy corner store conversion. Nancy is a true leader in her school and community.
