On March 23, YLI’s East SALUD leadership council went before the Selma School Board to solidify a partnership between the school district and a local grower to open a farm stand at a Andrew Jackson elementary school in Selma. The school board unanimously approved the agreement and the farm stand is scheduled to open in early April.
For the past several weeks, the East SALUD council has been working toward improving food environments in Selma through outreach efforts such as conducting healthy food taste tests at Selma High. The data gathered from the taste tests will be presented to the school's food services to inform future healthy food purchases.
