"Reaching for Success"
The City of Kerman Youth Commission, Kerman Unified School District, and Youth Leadership Institute partnered with several local organizations to host the Second Annual Kerman Teen Summit on March 24, 2012. The purpose of the Kerman Teen Summit is to empower youth by providing them with valuable information and resources on teen related topics and issues. In an effort to attract youth to the Summit and to ensure that the even remained youth focused, youth leaders from the Kerman Youth Commission, Interact CLUB, YLI Friday Night Live, and Kerman High School Leadership/ASB teamed up with organizers to plan every aspect of the event as part of the Kerman Teen Summit Planning Committee. These youth leaders dedicated their time and energy by attending bi-monthly meetings, seeking donations from local businesses, conducting peer surveys on potential workshop topics, and presenting to several local service clubs to gain support for this event. Marketing efforts to promote this event have made it well known throughout the community of Kerman. Their dedication to this event is reflected in the positive feedback received by the 150 youth who attended, the detailed organization of the event, the diversity of workshop topics that were available, and the overall support of the event by local businesses and leaders.
