On November 13, 2009, YLI Fresno’s Central California Regional Obesity Prevention Program (CCROPP) youth council showcased their photovoice project at the community screening of the documentary, Food Inc. Like the documentary, the photovoice project focuses on the lack of access to healthy food. The photovoice project is composed of photos taken in Fresno’s impoverished SW and SE neighborhoods, complete with the council’s written descriptions and impressions of the photos. After the documentary, Danielle Reyes of the CCROPP youth council participated on a panel of food justice experts who commented on the documentary and answered questions posed by the audience. The council hopes that their research will inform Fresno's decision makers of the communities' issues and urge them to take action in bringing healthy foods and safe places to be physically active to urban Fresno's underserved communities.
